Surviving In The Cracks - Documentary Film
What happens when the government pulls funding for youth safe houses and vulnerable kids end up on the street?
They mobilize, organize, march, and mount a theatre production production based on their lives to demand that funding be reinstated. With remarkable intimacy, we see the cast open up in front of the camera and rise above their troubled pasts for the cause. But when the challenges of their lives begin to affect the project, the shadow of contagious skepticism spreads among the group. Will their efforts be in vain? Will it be an embarrassment? Will there even be a performance?
Follow the emotional journey of a resilient bunch kids and their allies as they struggle to chronicle their efforts to survive on the street, and ultimately expose the cracks in a system that has failed to address persistent youth homelessness in Vancouver.
A Q&A will follow with the filmmaker and some of the subjects who appeared in the film.
